They will shut off if voltage drops too low.

When does it shut off??? Does it turn right back on?? Did you call Furuno? They have the best tech support in the market!!! I have the 587, also had the 620 prior to that, love these units!!!

I have two brand new batteries all connection are clean  it turns on and goes black

Might be a power issue to the block that you’re connecting it too. Check and see if you have power to it. The power cord is tiny and I was having issues with mine too. It was just a bad connection.

Check it was clean and solid gonna try disconnect ground tech support gave me something to look at

I bought a 588 still trying to get the 585 repaired Nothing on inside looks odd but when sun was out it would shut off on cooler overcast days it was fine

Yes that’s why I got that one there is a smaller screen version that will also not sure the # but might be 628
