My cisco planer reels came in.  I see the hole in the reel for the tow line to pass t through, but theres not a post or hook to tie too.  Do I just pass the line through and tie a big knot that can't pull back out?  Should I tie a trout bead to the end to ensure it can't come back through?  Whats the best way

I just tie a bunch of overhand knots and make it big enough that it will not pull through.  You shouldn't get to the bottom of the spool.

You could use a figure eight knot or double figure eight. Or you could double over the line and tie an overhand. Whatever will make a fat knot will do. And like Gambler said, you shouldn’t get to the bottom of the spool.

so 300ft is too far to run out the boards?

Only if you have 300' of line on your board reels!

I ran 250 or so before, was trolling a large flat that had boulders that were only 2 feet under water on a 10 foot deep flat that was 250 feet wide. works well.
