More dual board questions

Does the first rod out(line closest to the board) go in the rod holder closest to the bow, angled mostly up, and the last rod out in the stern most rod holder angled mostly down? I have seen drawings different ways. Also don't the leads need to get shorter or at least stay the same as you put lines out, otherwise how can you get a fish over the other lines? For instance, say I want to incorporate a couple of leadcore lines on each side; don't the longer cores need to be further out?
