Now that J plug season is here, what is everyone’s favorite plugs to run, and what is your go to setback off the riggers? Do you run short leads or lengthen them out ?

Silver Hoarde with the red mouth one close to the ball about 8 ft and the other about 15 ft back. Can also be run off shorter coppers (200-300's) or leadcore down the chute or even toplined in shallower water, but sometimes they can be too much to handle right on inline planers

I’ve run them off riggers, coppers, and dispies. I’ve had good luck with “bloody nose, and green glow).

I’m throwing it out there to see what other people do . Never too late to stop learning new tricks ....

I ran 1 ladst year think it was a red nosed one of some sort recommended from here but that was first time running a plug. Coming up next weekend for rest of season maybe I'll get lucky.

I’ve run a few different colors. Nearly all my fish have come on the green glow with black ladder back though. Had some real good days in mid July last year on it.

" FICKLE PICKLE " with rattle # 4 J-Plug put newbie #5 in the StCG&F summer derby on Aug 29 in the Laker category [ silver with a lot of chartreuse paint ! ]. The #5 flo white with black ladder back also works this year . Zilch with Lymans !

haven't salmon fished for some time but the hottest color for us was silver belly with lime green back. another color that worked good for us was a silver belly with a metallic blue back. both of these were our meat and potatoes for catching salmon.

 Lovin  my J plugs

# 3 &4 s same as above but add in a white black dot first light .

Tie direct . 35 to 75 + lead .

Dives 7 ft with 35 lead 10 ft with 75 lead

Run just off bottom with one ,the other half way down .

That means if you are in 15 ft of water ,back 75 ,down 2 or 3 ft .

Speed

Very forgiving

get hits both fast and slow

do a lot of s curves

speed up on turns

constantly adjust depth to  bottom ,this is critical

best lure for shallow staging kings in front of creek mouths

great lure for small boat tactics and less experienced guys . All I bring out from now till it's over.

no  riggers ? Get a slide diver .

sameleads ,put dive same depth as you would the rigger
