How do they work in a following sea?

I bought the nautilus ones that can also be put straight down for trolling brakes. In the normal position I never noticed anything even in the bays of the eastern shore. Against or with the tide. In the down position for trolling they drop my speed at idle from 3.5 to 1.8! I got them when I repowered to a 4-stroke, the new motor was very sluggish compared to the 2-stroke even though I went up 25hp more. The trim tabs make it respond as well as it did with the 2-stroke and the added stability is great.

The thing I did t like about the automatic trim tabs. Mine worked off pressure, was you could not use them to level the boat, like from dragging a bag on one side or an uneven load.
They did work great to get you up on plane faster but did nothing for leveling the boat.
