Church boards and wire backing

Hi,

I have a couple of new rods set up with 200 ft of Torpedo weighted steel and Torpedo 19 strand backing.  I want to be able to run them out the side of my boat using church boards, but can't find a way to attach them to the wire.  I know i will have to replace the stock plastic pin with a stainless steel one, but how do I attach the wire to the clip??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The red rubber bands work well with light lines. If not try the brown rubber bands. They break away from the release and are cleaned free when the line comes onto to the reel.Also rubber bands work well on downrigger releases.
