Early launches opening this spring

With brown trout fishing just around the corner I thought it might be of interest to share information on any launches that might be opening up.

I was wondering about Mexico Point and Wright's Landing today myself. Might have to take a drive over the weekend to check them out. I'll post conditions if I go.

I've been keeping my eye on Olcott (backbay webcam). Can't wait for the chunks to clear out ! I'd bet she will be opened up by Monday.....fingers crossed

Took a ride to Oswego and Mexico Point yesterday.......won't be fishing either place for awhile yet. Oswego Wright's Landing is still iced over, Mexico Point launch entrance is snow packed and the launch is iced over. A sad sight considering last year the boat was in the water and we were catching browns  Feb 27th

Perhaps warmer weather this week and some wind will turn spread things up.

Launching at Fort Niagara in March there is a warm water outfall from the waste water plant just east of the Fort that has a lot of brown trout stacked up in front of it.

Took a ride up to I-Bay and it is close.  Channel is open and if you were really desperate could break the 10-15 feet of ice to get to the channel from the launch.  Water looked really dirty and i am sure there is ice and crap in the water but it is getting real close.

Anyone looking to launch at Sandy in Hamlin, bring a shovel.  They plowed a pile of snow in front of the ramp.

Got my boat ready to roll today. Just waiting for weather and launches to hit the browns.
