Anybody know what Saltist would be good for a 5 & 7 color leadcore? Thinking the 40 but would like to hear from somebody that has any experience using these.

With 30lb braid i have 700’ on a 7color. That is using the linecounter. My guess is my 5 color is close to 800-850’ of 30lb. You will love the speed on the retrieve and the smoothest drags on the market!!!

Hey Capt. Rich, I am guessing you are using 27# micro lead for your 7c on a size 30 Saltist. Is that correct? What brand leadcore are you using?

Thanks!

I figured 5 color on 30 and 7 color on 40. That's what my plan was but also thought I may be able to get 7 colors of micro on a 30.

This is good info, Thank you for sharing. How about for a 10 color on a 40 for backing? or is a size 50 a better option?

The size 50 is a better option IMHO, will hold more backing, esp if you are using it for Kings. What I have in my notes for the 50 is: 100 full passes; back and forth of the level wind is 1 pass, plus full core should fill it perfect.

Thank you, just to confirm 100 full passes w/30pd braid as backer?

I used 50lb braid for backer on that full core. That is what I had left, so i used it. With 30lb, I am guessing you would be good with 130 full passes. If you have 2 of the same reels, put it on the first one backwards until the spook is full, then reel it onto the other one, and count your passes and write it down. That is how I have done all my spooling for cores and coppers.
