Digi troll depth problems

I recently bought some used digi trolls. While using them i found the depth to be half the amount of what is actually deployed. I changed the settings between 400' and 200' cable length with seemingly identical results. Any ideas would be great and thanks so much for your time!

its the magnet weights one missing !!

there is a little magnet weight attached to the spool along the outside outer edge. yours is missing.
