I would like to get my father in law some walleye tackle for Christmas. I'm not very in tune with this type of fishing. I've searched here for ideas, but became confused with options online at bass pro.

I would be taking him to Owasco lake and possibly Onieda. We would like to try a combo of still fishing and trolling (my boat is geared for salmon trolling (2 dipseys/ 2 downriggers)

Here is my list so far-

2- smithwick rattling rouge

2- thunderstick jrs.

2 jointed rapalas

2- husky jerks

Jigs - mix of bass pro bucktails (black, red, brown)

I'm confused on the worm harness rigs. Any advice on a over the counter rig to buy, or should I make my own for him (what parts do I need)

Any books/ videos to recommend?

Thanks......

I have caught fish with the over the counter rigs but I think the home made ones are more productive and cheaper. The website below describes the process pretty well. As far as colors, I think different waters have specific colors that are more productive at different times. I don't get to fish Oneida or Owasco very often but I'm sure some of these guys will help you out.
