No cons on that endeavor. All pro's. Easier starting in most cases , less maintenance , more reliable , no adjustments needed . Make sure you get the proper coil that is suggested , something to do with ohms , stock ones don't cut it in the long run, they burn up. Have two 305's and two 350's ,all converted.

All pro's. I would recommend that you check into a package from MSD and Mallory Unilite. I used this combination year ago. Zero problems and you can rejet for  unbelievable fuel economy.

Did you do the whole distributor or just the points

I had two sets of point break while out there last year  . NEVER had that happen in the 30 years of owning the boat .

Best decision i ever made with my old boat....

Fyi, They make a "conversion kit" for it!

Bob made a good point about the coil. Its requires a complete system change. You cannot used any from the old ignition system. Example is spark plug wires need to be the best.

I converted my points to the hot spark conversion kit 8 years ago . Still has factory coil . Haven't been under the distributor cap since the application of the hot spark kit . Did change the plugs about 3 years ago. When pulled spark plugs they were sand brown . I have a 4 banger Delco distributor.

Did you do the Pertronics and just remove the points or the whole distributor??
