Good afternoon all, this is Dave and I'm new to the site. I've started pursuing trolling for lake fish as a means to spend time with my boys.  I'm sure I'll ask all kinds of silly rookie questions, but my intentions are always good. I look forward to learning as much as I can from all you salty dogs.

My very first question is what kind of setup is a good one for downrigger and a few reliable bait patterns. I am familiar with downrigger use..I spent many hours trolling the gulf stream while I was in the Navy stationed in Chsrelston. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Dave

Welcome Dave. Lots of good people here. Where and when do you plan on fishing?

Whaler1....I'm getting all the pieces together for the downriggers and a couple rigs with dipsey divers.  So far just trolled some stick baits in close and bounced some jigs for smallies.

I launch out of bear creek in Ontario NY. Its not very busy and close to home

NymphO...thanks for the info. Spoons seem to be the go to..maybe time for a new tackle box dedicated to spoons and flies
