Open Question

i'm going to be in Batavia NY thru most of Jan. is there anyplace that has good or bad fishing nearby . I'll probably have to fish from shore, Please advise as to what I should us and expect to catch.

Well Cuz, you'll be about 35-40 miles from the Genesee River where I hear there's great fishing. I've never fished it myself, but there's guys here that fish it heavy. Hang onto yer socks & I'm sure someone will jump in to help ya out. ;)

The Genny is good but after the thaw, the Genny is at flood stage. The water is chocolate milk. It will take a couple of weeks to clear. Once it clear, it will be good. Oak Orchard, 18 Mile Creek and some of the Erie Tribs are great for steelhead at this time of the year. My suggestion would be to hire a guide.

OK Should be able to follow those instructions now what do I do when i get there? Can't afford a guide have been known to pick up Ideas when the resson is the hard way ie school of hard knocks. but really can i just float a sac o salmon using my downrigger rod or do I need a Noodle rod and just what the hell is one???

i don't think a downrigger rod would work well.a noodlerod is a long light action rod.a fly rod with a spinning reel would work better.i have caught some nice fish on a cheap noodlerod.

Well I guess if any guys see a guy freesing his balls off trying to fish with a spinning rod and reel it'll be me, wish me luck hell i'm already coldjust thinking about it but hey what you don't know won't hurt ya
