Looking to get into the art of laker jigging. I got myself some 3/4 and 1oz jig heads but they have 4/0 and 5/0 hooks seems a little big to me. So main thing are they too big? And if so what are some good jig heads I can pick up? Thanks for the advice guys!

You will be fine with those sizes, I pour and have used 5/0 (Mustad 32746NP or similar) with 1/2 - 1oz heads without any issues for many years.

5/0 hooks are my favorite, the problem with store bought hooks, is the wire is to thick

when your a hundred foot deep the thickness of the wire makes a huge difference on them thick jawbones

you used to be able to buy them from hermit on here, not sure if he still sells them or not

if you're ever near dryden NY i can give you a few to get you started

Yeah the ones I have came from ebay. I believe they are hand poured but the hooks are pretty thick. I’m actually from Cortland and would be happy to purchase a few. Will be on vacation for the next week and a half but will shoot you a pm when I get back. Thanks again!

I won some heads last year at the Tom Margeit memorial Derby. Thought the hooks were thin until I tried jigging and realized how much that helps having a thin hook. Hook might get bent too bad every so often so just change heads and you're back in business
