Looks like an abrasion then it severed. Could be a fish attempted to grab things above where you wanted it or it may have tangled with something like wire below somehow.....doesn't look like a clean cut

I know I mentioned this before, but maybe rubbing against the head/entrance into the bait. If it’s spinning and abrading while it runs it’d be weakened like that.
