Just plain easy limits in Dunkirk right now. We took my brother and niece out this morning and had a 4 person limit in three and a half hours. Threw back a few big ones as well. All sticks on riggers and three to eight color cores. Eight rod spread is all I wanted at times. Fished 65 fow west in front of the two water towers. She had a ball.

is any of the water near selkirk protected or does it get just as ruff as ontario , most pictures i see seem to show the shore in the back ground pretty close so maybe your not fishing to far off land and get some protection from the wind , would love to get out there and try it sometime .

Lake Erie United has a free Navionics Hot Spot Map for site users with Dunkirk on it.  Site also has links to Eastern Lake Erie Charterboat Association if new visitors to the area wanted to charter before trying it on their own.  Wind and rough water can limit fishing on Lake Erie in similar fashion to Lake Ontario.  A southwest wind at Dunkirk is generally not favorable as it runs the length of the lake.  Lots of people make trips out of Dunkirk to enjoy the great walleye fishing-just have to pick your days.

I was hoping there was some land or bays offering some protection its at least a 5 hr. trip for me one way hate to get stuck on shore all day , is there alot of good fishing close to shore for eyes

I know they were catching eyes in 40 to 50 ft of water last week which would be okay to fish in a stiff south wind as long as you ran the shoreline. Not sure what size boat you have but any wind other than south blowing over 15 mph will be rough out there.

When you are looking to fish the Great Lakes you are going to have days you can’t get out.  If you can’t get on Lake Erie from Dunkirk, there are two nearby options for inland lakes that do have protected water.  Cassadaga Lake is just up Rt 60 and Chautauqua Lake which has decent walleye fishing is nearby.  Both are good plan B’s so a trip is not wasted.  The walleye fishing on Lake Erie has been awesome this year so it is worth trying to get here and fish it.

Fish out of buffalo. Plenty of eyes out deep and if you have a blow day there's still opportunity to fish inside the harbor.

Plenty of full boxes coming inside of 100 fow. Last couple trips 80 fow has been good for me.  Big numbers of eater size fish with pretty much everything working.  One of the advantages of Dunkirk is that deeper water isn’t a long run and many days decent bite right out front of harbor.

My sons want to bring the boat there and try it. Never did it before, should be interesting.

Man there nice looking fat eyes!!!  way to go !!
When #24 hit the cooler, we got a triple bringing lines in..... Its unreal the fish in that lake.

I haven't gone out once this year without seeing a full screen all trip. They are high, on bottom, shallows and deep. Drag something with a hook and you gonna catch fish. Bottom bounce. Fly fish, whatever !

Without keeping notes, id say there's been a dozen over 8# and a handful over 10#. Usually get one big per trip. Just fished a derby last weekend where we maintained about a 7# average for 3 fish/ 3 days. Average "eater" is prob 3-4#. 0803191057_HDR.thumb.jpeg.8c1c62293b2502e065c2af8a4fc005b6.jpeg0802191823c_Burst01.thumb.jpeg.db01f5e2e481a6813e55113f9277688d.jpeg0721191048d_HDR.thumb.jpeg.4adbe41572615ec3f35efaacc7919c9e.jpeg0709192003b_HDR.thumb.jpeg.0d507f57a9422cbb621f10d949af84bf.jpeg148080.thumb.jpeg.35ed6242d588108235565191e267ce1f.jpeg0706192030.thumb.jpeg.5636518c807145404a0686a39d967179.jpeg0615191626_HDR.thumb.jpeg.e95610329dec0b44cd498bd909873ecb.jpegIMG_20190609_194420_593.thumb.jpeg.e7bf2ce166fac0a45429acbab3471242.jpeg0609191513c_HDR.thumb.jpeg.4a82da047a7b317b7b937c7eb32499d5.jpeg
