good for that kid!  At 18 I would have shot the deer in the brow tine because that is were I would have been looking!

Ain’t it the truth.... although not the brow tine, blew mine right over his back at 30 yds. In my younger days, Shawnee National Forest in Illinois, will never forget it. Some walk the woods their entire life and won’t see a 180 class other than in Bass Pro.....kudos to him...... awesome deer.

If I whack one Tommy I’ll swing it by the shop before I drop it off!
Then again, I’m one of the worst deer hunters on the planet.

I’m curious - and this is not a critique but rather my own curiosity on scent management - but you post a lot of trail cam pics which leads me to believe you are going in the woods to get the SD cards. I am not aware of any Browning cameras that are linked to a cellular service although they do have a model that has a WiFi hot spot feature. Are you concerned about leaving a scent trail and ruining the woods by doing this? I practice low impact hunting myself and I remember you posting about other folks possibly ruining their hunts later in the season by over hunting their spots too early. Thanks

I agree. I’m curious how the deer do not seem spooked by his presence near the trailcam!!!

I’d like to know as well, better yet have him put me up in one of the lesser stands on the property.

That picture with you in the background is a keeper! Nicely played.

I was covered up with doe last night munching acorns, and it turns out raccoon like acorns, too. I had one beneath me for half-an-hour chomp, chomp. I love hearing the deer before I see them - a few came in under some pine canopy and I knew they were there before I got a look at them. Chomp, chomp. Years hunting over acorns, though, and I've seen 20:1 doe over bucks. Other sets are better ratios. It's a fun sit, if you want to shoot a doe. Which I do, but not last night. Timing issues.

Other good news: the fields and food plot that the farmer planted late are starting to come up. I don't know if they will be a significant draw this year, but my fingers are crossed.

Final thought, with the guys remarking on shooting that 180 in the brow time, cause that's where they'd be looking. The 6 1/2 year old that I took last year had a mark at the base of its antler from a broadhead. So, shooting where you're looking, it's not entirely unfounded lol.

40 degrees and lots of deer moving this morning. Lots of deer in open fields. Unfortunately I saw them all as I was commuting to work. Three fresh road kills also including a decent buck that was smacked by a garbage truck.
