What do you guys use for predicting wave heights? The site I normally use (wunderground) doesn't seem to do it anymore.

I google “ Oswego buoy “. That gives me the wind speed half a mile off Oswego. It also gives an interactive map with yellow squares on different locations. Click on the dot you need and get local info.

All the info you get this way is real time.

Wave predictions never seem to agree what I'm looking at on the water. I keep a chart in my head that tells me for different conditions that tells me when I can fish and when I should pray.

all the weather stations give 3,6 10 days forecasts and they can not even get 1 hour right

There are several apps available and some pay (less than 5 bucks) that give forecast and real time data. Seach Lake Ontario weather or Great Lakes Boating in your app store. The one I use pulls up to date data from NOAA The one I use is Lake Ontario-Marine Conditions also has links to a couple of web cams from various harbors.

There’s an app called Marine Traffic that gets real time feeds from the AIS on the big boats, very accurate wind data and a map overlay...blue fishable, other colors not so much.  It’s also fun the see pics, destination etc. of those big freighters as they go by....

I'm with @rolmops on the Oswego buoy but also someone recently told me about the 'fishweather" app.   Which I now also like.  It has ability to show you current and predicted winds but also a full lake wind-field view all for free.  The have a premium also but I have not tried that yet.

Fall, the slight stench of decomposing salmon gets in the air, and all the trolls start coming out from under the bridges! :bug::rain::lipssealed:
