Tried owasco yesterday afternoon. Trolled for about 4-5 hours with not so much as a sniff. Granted I'm still new to this but was using dispys with spoons. Was shooting for about 40' down at about 2.5-ish mph. Marked quite a few fish on the east side of the lake but the west side was real quiet. No luck, but nice afternoon for boat ride [emoji846]

Not sure what your desired fish species is but you may want to try a little deeper if looking for lake trout. I haven't fished Owasco in a while but my gut feeling is you aren't getting your presentations deep enough.

Was mostly trying for Steelheads or Atlanta but I've heard there aren't many landlocks in there.

It was the first time out using my homemade rod holders so I was happy they held up. Not sure how they'll do if something hits them, but hoping to see at some point

I looked at your picture. I would.be careful with the rod holders. You can always attach the rods to the boat with a length of paracord and a key chain carabiner just in case they fail when a fish hits. Nothing worse than donating fishing poles reels and a hole rig to the bottom of the lake[emoji16]

Yeah I hear that. I was more worried about them popping out of their mounts so I did have a bungee cord from the boat to the holder. I may attach something from the boat to the rods though like you suggest just in case. Thanks!

Lily2 is right , don't even trust pvc for one moment . I delivered oil house to house and and seen pvc nightmares. There is always rods holders for sale here on Lou . Pvc rod holders will make a bad fishing trip .

Seems like around 40 feet down should be about right for the rainbows. best luck right off the points. for lakers, middle to south end near bottom around 100. Are those weed mats in your picture.

Thanks! There were some weed mats around, but it wasn't that bad. Think in the picture it's just some bubbles

The front had them not too active this weekend, my usual spots only produced small browns, never hit a bow and I was in the zone, even the temp breaks were dead. I fished all high zones for silver.....and didn’t spend much time as the bite was not happening with quality.

Thanks all for the responses and tips! I feel like i'll have a better plan of attack next time i am out there. Whether i'll be able to execute and produce anything is a whole different story
