Was upstate this past weekend. Ponds and lakes were froze. Not sure if its safe.

I know we are all like race horses waiting to get out of the gate but it is going to take some extended cold without the ups and downs in temp and low to no wind for a bit to give us safe ice.

Upstate had 40 degrees and rain last week.
From now till christmas it never gets above freezing with negatives a few nights mixed in. That should help. Chomping at the bit.

I was really hoping to get some ice for Christmas week and hopefully go with my boys.

I'm talking in Franklin county for the most part.

People were ice fishing couple weeks ago.

But nobody will post to keep the army away. Same ole story

Tupper lake area always seems to report first fishable ice. Some of the honey hole first ice spots are good now in the north country.....this cold snap will put some ice down quickly... to sk8’s point, going to need an extended stretch before the good stuff is here. Cannot wait!!
