20,000 members being prohibited from recreational pursuits is definitely UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Psychologist and Other doctors have said recreational activity is healthy, and relieves stress. This total shutdown is government overreach by any standard. I fish alone 80% of time. No interaction at all except to pay my ramp fee. That could be worked out.

A big problem for many of us is that it sounds like many of the ramps or launch areas are

being physically barricaded.  Couldn't launch of you wanted to.  I wonder if a private marina

with a launch would get in trouble if they simply turned a blind eye to people using the ramp?

More of an academic question than anything that will probably happen though.

I saw a post somewhere with someone saying they get there will be a lot of kayaks being sold.  I thought the same and might do some serious looking.

Wow. It’s all about you guys.
Can’t give up fishing for a couple weeks or a month??
New York State is the Covid capital of the world .
Between 700 and 800 people a day or dying in New York City.
It’s all about you guys.
Let’s say your buddy Dave lives in NYC and he decides that a couple of buddies and he want to go fishing .
Boat launches are still open so off they go.
Did I say it’s all about you guys?
Dave was exposed to Covid 5 days ago.
So in the truck his buddies are now exposed. They stop for fuel. Some kid working the cash gets exposed.
An hour later they stop for a meal.
More people exposed.
They get to the launch and fish all day. They come in when you come in.
You pull a 15 lb brown out of your boat and everyone runs over to congratulate you.
Well congratulations, you forget about the 6’rule now you are exposed and going to take it home to your loved ones.
This probably won’t happen but something like this happened because that is how we all got into the ****SHOW we are in now!
It’s all about you guys.

I feel sorry for hard working small businessmen like yourself.
You look like you have an awesome setup there.
We usually fish outside Henderson Harbor staying at Wescott Beach state park.
If things get to the new normal later this year I would be looking to make a trip down your way.
My wife finds the run out to the fishing grounds there long and doesn’t like being that far out.
Plus we could make the run to Waterloo for her to shop[emoji17].
I am working a 24 hr shift in my firewall tomorrow and am hoping to check out your place a little closer.
We have a slide in camper and 21’ Mako CC.
Hopefully folks like yourself will get some of the benefit from President Trumps $2 trillion fund.
It would be nice if he spent more time working on helping people like yourself instead of making deals with the head a Prince Sand Monkey of Saudi Arabia bailing out Carnival Cruises.
Was that really that important to have done that right now?
I guess he has priorities as well [emoji17].

No, this is not selfish at all. It's called common sense. If a person fishes alone, or fishes with only those in his own household there is no reason that person should be prevented from fishing. The executive order is too broad, and could have provided some exceptions. Restaurant's are closed, so your concern there is moot. Ever heard of pack your own, or drive through windows? Gas stations have pay at the pump. I rarely if ever go inside. I launch my boat, fish, and recover my boat by myself. No human interaction. Now when we ordered door dash the other night, I had interaction with the individual that brought the food. They had no mask, no gloves. COMMON SENSE.

No it's not about us it's about our rights and what our government is doing to them. My wife and I fish together. I stay away from people, period, regardless of the virus. We love to eat trout and venny. If you think it's selfish of me to want to do what I've put thousands of dollars into as a hobby you may want to move to a socialist country. This is America last I checked. More idiots out there texting and driving killing people than this virus especially in my county. NYC is the covid capital.. not upstate.. stay healthy, tight lines, tight groups. Arrest me.

Nautitroller ,I respect the fact that you are standing up for something you believe in.

Most civilized countries are that way because someone took a stand and drew a line in the sand and said this is where it stops.

If there were only one or two people running around , there would be no problem.

Unfortunately there are still masses that don't get it.

It only took one or two people to put NYC where they are today.

It will take the same to contaminate Upstate New York.

I have $1000s of $$ in tackle boats kayaks and a camper as well.

At this point I am willing to sacrifice and stay at home for now.

If you find a launch that is open , I hope you do well.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion , but at the same time, eveyone can take their opinion to the coffee shop along with around $2 and they will give you a large coffee. Also opinions are like a$$holes. Everyone has one.

The last I heard was that Covid 19 is 3 times more contagious than the flu.

Keep your hands clean and don't touch your face.

Words to live by these days.

The feelings are running hot right now and that is understandable. The main problem is that not everyone is doing their best to stay from others and some folks are doing crazy things (like spitting or coughing on food in the stores for laughs). For the past couple weeks I have driven by the Canandaigua launch and the pier. I counted over 50 trailers in the parking lot one day and there is only one MAIN ramp (handicapped one) available with a rail running the length of it pretty much forcing you to grab it when coming in especially. I also saw a bass boat about 17 ft long with 4 people in it with two sitting right next to each other in the front. Each time I drove out on the pier there was a hot dog vendor selling  and three or four people standing right next to each other talking to him, and groups of folks milling about and walking in groups. These are the types of folks that have spoiled it for the rest of us and they are the ones potentially spreading the virus while many of us are doing our part  to safeguard others and ourselves. I have been fishing over 70 years and I have given up other activities long ago such as hunting and things like golf etc. to be able to fish year round. It means everything to me EXCEPT for sacrificing my health because without that no fishing or anything else. I had already registered for derbies which I look forward to each season and even preparing for them in the winter months. At this age I don't know how many seasons I have to look forward to and my boat is now sitting right next to my house waiting to go. With all this in mind I have stayed put since February 26th and it sucks; but but at least I know that I haven't been jeopardizing my health and that of my fellow fishermen and other citizens. I dislike the Emperor and his authoritarian tactics as much as anyone on here (e.g. so-called SAFE Act) but at this point I don't give a damn if he is wrong or right or the politics involved in his specific decisions right now during this pandemic. These precautions may be f d up but something has had be be done to keep the previously mentioned idiots from harming others, and yes it is extreme but not all that hard to follow the rules until we get back to sanity.

That’s right NYC is the hot spot. I feel for those people and what they are going through. That said , keeping this virus downstate is what this is all about. Having people inundate upstate from all over is not accomplishing containment. Stay home till this is over and life gets back to normal

This is a completely ignorant point of view. NYC is is viewed that way because A. there are more people and B. It is where testing is being done. Here in Broome County we couldnt even get tests and people were just told if you seem to have symptoms just self quarantine without a test. Heck we had people DIE waiting for their test results for 2 weeks. We have 2 nursing homes getting hammered with it.  This is not a NYC problem. They should be viewed as how wide spread it is with some level of decent testing

Completely ignorant point of view iyho. Last I looked Broome cty was down on the PA border I have lived in Jefferson and Oswego ctys my whole life. Upstate does not need an influx of people to help spread this virus. Stay home. Very simple

What do you mean upstate doesn't need an influx?  Are you aware of the location of Onondaga county?  It actually borders Oswego county and it's the epicenter for Covid in upstate NY.   Wake up you have it worse than we do....the part I agree with is stay home...I wish we all would agree on that...

That is exactly what I am trying to convey  Stay Home  My point is : people traveling to Lake O from anywhere ,are risking the lives of people in this area

So we we are not supposed to go fishing while  at least the I-Bay launch is open. Still with 7 foot waves on the lake it might as well be closed.
