I stopped at Sampson yesterday .I just wanted to check it out. They did a beautiful job on the marina. The guy from semsen was there in the little round building .I went in to see if I could reserve a dock for the derby..He was saying someone contacted him to barricade off the launch. He put me on a list to reserve a dock he would not take money for a reservation as it would be hard to reimburse it in these uncertain times. He also stated they would be doing the same type improvements on the North end of Seneca.

Dam its 4am on a Saturday and I want to go fishing, but the sky is falling. The sky is falling.[remember that?]

Well said Sk8man. If everyone would just follow the rules both suggested and mandated; we would all be able to start doing what we enjoy sooner!

What a tease! Docks start to go in and launches get closed! Like so many other times that the government steps in to decide what is right for everyone it comes down to people not being trusted to make good decisions. We all pay the price. For most, fishing daily is probably more safe than a bimonthly trip for groceries. I don’t like it but no way going to take any chance on getting written a possible 4 figure ticket. Stay home for a couple weeks! Maybe we can all get back out in May.

If I know NYS, temporary quickly turns permanent.

so you are saying you believe boat launches will never open again?

i'll take that bet

Not for nothing, but in the grand scheme of things, I think we’re doing a darn good job at following the “rules”. Us “Americans” are not used to this at all and I commend everyone for doing their part, but IMO it’s way overstated that because a launch parking lot is full or a river is full of fishermen that those actions are major concern for spreading the virus. JC look at Lowe’s, Home Depot and grocery stores for crying out loud. I’m sick of hearing about the boat launches and golf courses being full.....

It puts a new spin on regimes that are less tolerant than ours. We call Cuomo the emperor, but in truth...did you see those videos of the armed guards in China forcibly locking people into their houses? Man, that wouldn't go over well here, would it? Or Italy, where you need papers to even be outside?

I personally don't think that we need those kind of draconian measures. Flattening the curve is simply a way to ensure that our health care systems aren't overwhelmed. I agree with comments made by others that we are all likely to get this - better six months from now IMHO than the near future, but regardless. Low impact activities should still be okay.

The other side of the coin is those folks who act like this isn't their problem. And maybe it isn't...but they are making themselves everybody else's problem.

What gets me is when they report the number of positive cases (which is probably low due to lack of testing) per county. It keeps getting higher and higher every day. Then you see the number of cases that have recovered or died at the bottom. It makes it look like many areas are really spiking until you subtract the recovered cases. Why don't they report current cases ? It makes things look much worse than it is. It is not fake news but it is misleading.

Gotta sue someone!  lol what a mentality to have with what's currently going on in the world.  Do everyone a favour and stay home.  The sooner more people do the sooner we'll all be back out fishing.

If the numbers look bigger, people will live in fear and listen to King Andy.  Its all a scare tactic.  Currently by Monroe Counties numbers, There are 712 cases of Corona since the beginning.  There has been 46 deaths and 341 cured.  That makes 325 Active cases.  I'm with you all the way with this Sean.

So for all you Bernie or Van Jones fans , here is a small taste of how it will go in a socialist , or communistic gov .

Told what you can and can't do , where you can go . A good portion of the population dependent on the Gov for their next paycheck . Hard to get food / etc.

Lots of fun , ain't it .

I don't know guys...you're arguing with accepted standards in reporting epidemiological data...I suspect that there's no agenda nor scare tactic, it's just the way it's always been done. Check out the Johns Hopkins COVID dashboard. You could argue that an odometer is lying to you because it reports cumulative mileage lol. But nobody is hiding anything. The data is all right there to be seen by everybody. IMHO, the most important numbers are daily ICU admissions, deaths, and the mortality/recovery ratio. Those three things provide you with all you need to know about what's going on right now, as well as the trajectory of this outbreak.

I'm not blaming anyone .

And what is being done is probably necessary to some degree .

But look at the results of what is being implemented now .

Looks a little  like what you see in socialist or communistic nations.

You aren't wrong!! This is their normal normal. At least in so far as government dictating every aspect of their life. We're taking it on the chin now, but I'm confident that American strength will get us through this and onto better times.

I think overall our government (both sides of the aisle) and people have done a great job during this time. The civility, kindness and sincerity I have witnessed during this time have been a blessing.

 Exactly my feeling too Bill . Patience is a virtue and Americans seem to have little of it these days. We all need to do our part to support the folks on the front lines taking the hit for the rest of us. There is no place for selfishness or intolerance from being "inconvenienced"when something like this is going on.

In a strange twist of fate Social democracy Sweden who Bernie models after refuses to lock down and here we are being told what days we can drive on.

Your profile has your location as Watertown and you are posting a picture from Mexico.   You have had fairly heavy handed commentary toward those who might travel to the area.  Sure, you can say your buddy/ family member etc sent it to you.  I'm just sayin  "Optics are bad" relative to your commentary.

You would be right if you said a friend took and sent the pic. I have been to Sam’s club and Wally World a totol of once in 3 weeks. I went to my church and picked up palms. I’ve worked on my boat in my yard on nice days. All alone. The boat is ready to go. But it’s going to sit there till this is over. Thanks for your concern
