Rainbow Smelt. Here is one about 9 inches from Canandaigua through the ice a couple years ago.

Thanks that is what I thought. It was probably the biggest smelt ive seen. Used to go all the time as a kid with my dad and loved it. Not many left anymore. Trying to get my kids out for them. [emoji20]
