Bead chain vs ball bearing swivel

Does anyone use bead chain for connecting mainline to leader when trolling spring browns? Are there specific times to use beadchain vs a simple ball bearing swivel?

I use small bead chain in Spring, helps keep debris off Lure,later in season will change to heavier bead chain to connect leader to main line on spoon rods.
