Well its time for new flares again and bass pro and cabelas want 45.00 !!! I didnt check walmart yet ,  I couldn't find any updated info in a search , is new york accepting the electronic sos lite or do we have to have flares

To my knowledge the electronic sos lite is coast guard approved even in ny.

electronic sos lite is coast guard approved along with a daytime flag. in the long run its cheaper.

i went to the electronic flares 2 yrs ago. just remember to install new batteries each spring.

I thought there was a issue where NY didnt go along with coast guard approval on the electronic flare and wouldnt accept it

I believe the electronic flares are only for night use. You still need a day signal.

It seems your right.  Looks like I have to get a flag.  I got the electronic thing last year because I was piling up old flares and they were getting expensive.

I accumalated half of a  bushel of old flares. One Fourth of July I tried to fire some off. A lot of older flares the twist off igniter would not open even with vise grips. Besides being a hazardous condition, be aware that the old flares are unusable.

Yes definitely check expiration date, I dig through them and get the latest I can find when I buy mine.

Just bought 12 ga flares for my pistol at walmart for $20. Exp date is Sept 2023. That surprised me since I will get 4 seasons.
