Well its time for new flares again and bass pro and cabelas want 45.00 !!! I didnt check walmart yet ,  I couldn't find any updated info in a search , is new york accepting the electronic sos lite or do we have to have flares

electronic sos lite is coast guard approved along with a daytime flag. in the long run its cheaper.

I thought there was a issue where NY didnt go along with coast guard approval on the electronic flare and wouldnt accept it

Gota watch out at the "marts". Went to purchase some flares and half their user life had already expired.

It seems your right.  Looks like I have to get a flag.  I got the electronic thing last year because I was piling up old flares and they were getting expensive.

I accumalated half of a  bushel of old flares. One Fourth of July I tried to fire some off. A lot of older flares the twist off igniter would not open even with vise grips. Besides being a hazardous condition, be aware that the old flares are unusable.
