I have been on the search for a new jigging rod I have been looking for a spinning reel that is sensitive but with a medium rod with some backbone, my jigging rods currently are a little too much. Any suggestions would help a lot, thanks

These are "boat rods", but I have been using them on downriggers for a few years now. I like the large stainless steel quad foot eyes as the fleas don't get stuck, lots of backbone with  a very soft tip, one piece blank.

Thank you, I have very similar rods and they are great but I heard that spinning rods are easier to use while jigging with the action and drag but maybe I should just use the ones I have? I don’t know.... IMG_1703.JPG

We always use 7’ medium weight fast action bait casting setups spooled with 20 braid and 15 to 20lb fluorocarbon leader about 7 to 10” long to the jig. The bait caster allows you to stay on your jig better

I switched to a 7’3” medium heavy fast action favorite defender bait casting setup with 20lb braid and a 12” flourocarbon leader (p-line cfx 12lb). I find the medium heavy rod handles the 3/4 to 1oz jigs a lot better and is still sensitive enough to pick up the subtle bites down deep.
