walleyemagic Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 When trolling the Big O for walleye or salmon, how do you determine your speed?
Jax Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I use my Subtroll Downspeed, the most accurate tell of what your lures are doing is your subtroll or probe reading. Your Speed over Ground --SOG speed reading off your gps will change depending on which way you troll to get your lures running your target speed. All this assuming you are fishing over deep water with undercurrents or larger surface waves, into a stiff wind etc...when trolling shallows with fairly calm conditions using stickbaits I will put a lure next to the boat and see how it is running with my boat speed and adjust according to what the fish want.
