Hi all, Im new to the site. Been trolling it for a week or so and thought I would join in.

I have a 2014 Tracker Targa V18 Combo w/150 Merc and a Yamaha 15hp four stroke kicker.

Two riggers and a home made planer mast. 

Have fished Ontario for Spring Browns the last two seasons with good success and have fallen in love with the place.

I have started to dabble with the Salmon fishing in the lake but need to get geared up properly still and I am still a little leary of going out too far in my little boat. I have caught a few zombies in the Salmon River estuary in the last few years.

Home is Saratoga County NY.

Closest good fishing is Lake George.

Couple wire dipsys and some beefy holders for them, a couple high leads or coppers for your planers and your styling

I love a 6 rod spread, 4 dipsys and 2 riggers. Once in awhile a 10 color or copper on a in line. My boat is no giant either, but pick your days and watch the wind. Also, prepare for a pile of completely wrong forecasts, it is a great lake and if your not comfortable, put it back on the trailer. No fish is worth the risk.

I’ve been reading that wire is the ticket on the dipsy rods but can you get by with braid? Planning on getting fully set up for next year with wire/copper but cant make the investment right now.

One of the advantages of wire / disadvantage of braid is fleas. Braid will load up with fleas much quicker than wire.

The fleas is true but you can run the dipsies with braid without a problem.
