Another rookie question but … Do most guys run a flasher with spoons or bare?

no flasher with spoons. I always run a flasher and fly. I do think on some days it draws them into the spread.

I have had luck running spoons behind the hotspot type triangle flashers. Very little drag and about a 6ft leader of fluorocarbon to the spoon When running deeper. I also attach them to the ball, and run the spoon 10-15 feet back. Higher up you run, further back from the ball.

Thanks Guys, We'll have to try both ways out and see what works.  Spent a fortune on gear so hope we are prepared.

I'll run smaller dodgers occasionally, at the risk of getting bit off by salmon. Works better for trout. About 20 to 24" between spoon. Did get a nice coho last year on a blue and silver stinger behind a 6" jenson hammered chrome. Probably just luck.

Some of the flashers/spinners don't impart any action to the lure, so those need a spoon or other self action lure behind them.  Its good to have both on hand to try on tough days.
