While shooting time may end at 6:30, it's too light with too much deer movement to get out of the stand and risk busting a set. I always wait until I can sneak out, generally after dark - much the same as when you get into a stand half an hour early, at least, in the morning.

Billy was covered up in deer late today.
Young bucks sparring and chasing doe.
No big guy sightings.

Nothing better.
When my kids were little I’d put them in a ground blind under my tree stand.
Load them up with snacks and drinks.
Amazing with the noise and smell how many animals we still saw.

Anyone try to start rattling or grunting with any success? Thinking with the cold weather approaching this weekend I may try it

Funny you should ask that. I might start this weekend. I have never had ANY success grunting. Never even gotten a real reaction. Never had any reaction to rattling.......BUT I have spun 3 giant deer 180 degrees on a bleat call. Bleat has by far been the most effective for me.

Wouldn't be in the woods without my grunt tube... killed a bunch of big bucks with it, including last year. Dont give up on it.
