I just purchased three scotty riggers. Two are the adjustable 60" booms and one is the two foot boom. I have a swim platform that extends 18" beyond the transom. My engine configuration is twin i/o's.

My question is, if I wanted to run the two foot boom rigger down the center, should I put a longer boom on it? Looks like the two footer will clear but worries me being that close to the swim platform and the outdrives. looks like I could just put a longer boom on it with ease.

longer boom would be advisable, because the boat creates a backwash swirl as it moves along through the water and inadvertently could wash the cable back into the outdrives. Also rough water could cause a misguided thump at the back of the boat with the ball. I have 60 inch booms on mine and am glad for the extra confidence in deploying the inboard riggers.
