I fished with Chad (Gill-T) and his brother today on his shakedown. We fished out of Olcott. NW winds made the lake a little snotty but the fish still cooperated ok.

We had a bit of the dropsies today but still ended up 6/14 with 4 browns and 2 coho landed. other than 1 lost fish on an evil-eye off the rigger, every fish came on smithwick rattling rogues in the shamefully discontinued log perch color (makes a really good goby imitation). No other sticks were working so we ended up with that pattern on 3 of the 4 board rods and all of them were taking hits.

Typical 2-3 lb early season browns. Here's one of the cute little guys (all returned to grow up)

we had the boards in pretty tight to shore

Good stuff guys. The only other boat out our way had similar results. I guess the snotty waves gave them lures some action.

Good job guys . That paint job looks like the old Creek Chub Pikie color. Send the cohos our way if you could. :)

Love the Smithwick Log Perch!!! Used to slaughter the Pike & Muskies with them in the fall near Sault Ste. Marie!!

Nice job, now I have to find that tackle box and pull the Rogues out of storage.

You want the shallow diver/floater models, otherwise, you will be dragging bottom. Our inside lines were in 3-4 FOW. 30Lb test with #15 fluorocarbon leader keep the bait running up high. Suspending models would have more of an application out deeper. The floater models of any stickbait have better action than suspending models IMO.
