My biggest king last year came on a neon green bomber on a 4 color at the end of May.  If I'm not mistaken, the Spring LOC winner last year was also on a bomber, ran on 6 colors of lead.

Bombers are a very underrated lure. I've caught everything from bass to kings on them and the orange and gold one is a favorite for browns.

I also have used diving plugs like Sooonbill rebels , Lindy shadlings  , and Rapala tail dancers on big boards . They work well to get down to the 20 to 30 ft depths . Got many nice kings on them till Memorial day , and the lake stratifies and Thermocline sets up . Mid morning on is when they seem to work best .

Bay rats, regular and jointed rapala in the spring, shallow early on if the water is clear.  If the water is too scummy I run out to the edge and skim the bottom off riggers with spoons for lakers, they fight real well in the spring.   Itching to go fishing!
