Just got my flier in the mail. Its still on with a $10,000 grand prize. May 29, 30 and 31.  I did not see on the flier a place to sign up online. If there is one please correct me.  I know its a little tough fishing but your odds are better there on winning  than in that damm casino. We look forward to it every year.

315 789 5520  is the number to call for info.   Good luck to all.

I look forward to it every year and have participated in every one except the first in 1966 as I was overseas. Prior to having a boat we fished off docks or the seawall at the north end of the lake with live bait or the area right on back of the Chamber of Commerce and usually caught a mixture of lakers and pike.  The zebras spoiled that option in the shallows. I know there are folks that may feel that the fishing is more difficult lately  and the fish aren't as easily caught but the fun of it is the challenge itself.. My son has fished it with me since early childhood and we still prepare for it together and get excited about fishing it every year. Last year we were the first two entrants (#s 1 and 2) and although we didn't hook any winners this time we had a heck of a lot of fun together and that is what it is truly all about.. In the past we often camped at Sampson many years and met a lot of great people and fellow fisherpersons  I've fished many of the Lake O derbies in the past which were also fun but the Seneca Derby has always held a special place in my heart and chances of success or winning are far better. The current organization is really trying to hold on to the tradition and especially during this covid thing they can use our support. My entry has been mailed in already. I hope some of the folks thinking about entering will do so. You don't have to be constantly wrestling with fish to be having fun either and figuring them out is a great part ogf the experience.

Looking forward to it even if I do smell the skunk.  I'm dying to get back out on the water.  Hard to believe the marina opens in just seven weeks.

1st time for me.

got the last campsite at Clute park.

now need someone to steer the boat.

looking forward to it, probably 5 times more likely to get hit by lightning than to win a prize.

I hope they have a good turn out this year as it is a lot of fun and a real chance to use skills to take on the challenge. It would be great if a lot of LOU folks turned out maybe as a change of pace from Lake O or if the wind conditions aren't projected to be good there.

Would like to get in but I wouldn't know where to start, what to use, where to go, where to launch, It would be a first for me to fish Seneca lake since I'm just starting out downrigger fishing and don't know what to look for. So I might sign up but I need all the help I can get if anyone want's to help.  :(  Thanks

Its a big money derby. Everyone is tight lipped on whats working. You could go down  this site and get some good Ideas. There is a ok launch on the N end at the Marina park. There is a new super launch site at Sampson park Its on the E side I would guess 5 miles down 96a. You never know might be beginners luck.

I caught a 1st place fish on a topline years ago. I caught a winning fish 90ft down a couple years ago.  You just never know until you try.

Noob launching question: I plan on launching at Sampson and I'm sure it'll be crazy that weekend. How's the parking there? I'm assuming there's a launch fee but couldn't find it on their website?

There is an ample amount of parking available. But the marina is not free it's no longer part of the State Park $7 is the launching flee. ( I dont know if applies to the people that rented a cabin and a slip ) Which is cheaper than the Chamber of Commerce in Geneva they gets 10 and the marina at samson is way better launch .
