Hey guys,

I'm looking to move to a hardwired VHF Radio and Antenna this spring on a 2016 Lund Rebel XS Sport. We trailer the boat around a bit so wondering what everyone recommends for an antenna setup that works well but can also be "stowed" for trailering.

Boat spends time on Lake O, Finger Lakes and ADKs.

Thanks for the help.

Sean

I use one of these ratchet style mounts. Makes it easy to raise and lower for trailering. I am still using the same mount that I installed  19 years ago and trailer my boat about 25 times a year.

shakespere is the most popular brand for vhf antennenas and mounts.as far as length, the longer the antenna the better the reception and transmission will be.

That could definitely work. Do you use a 4' or 8' antenna? Assuming you fold it down for trailering.

Any idea who makes that mount?

Thanks again

I have a 8' antenna and lay it down for trailering. Works real good and easy sneezy.

I've have one of these on my boat for 19 years now and still going strong.

They are all generally the same.

Same with the radio's IMO

The most important part is the antenna and the height of the antenna.

I use the Shakespeare stainless that lays down , but bolted it to a flat pc of aluminum that fits into the tracks and put it on when I'm doing the rod holders and riggers and usually just slid it out with the rod holders and riggers when done to put the boat cover on when traveling
