Braid on downrigger rods

Does anybody run straight braid in there down riggers? I have braid on all my rods and will be using Chamberlain releases dont really wanna add mono to 2 of then for a few trips a year.

Braid works great until the fleas show up and stick to it so bad that you won't be able to reel it in

Were coming mid may I'm assuming fleas wont be a problem around that time?

Won't be a problem mid may. They start showing up when the top water temp is about 70 degrees

I use a pro release with braid to a 3 color lead core without issues off a rigger

You just slap your rod on the water furiously to get the fleas off, right?  But yes, it gets pretty bad in the summer.
