Third year using the x4 and all is good except I no longer get a down temperature. There is not much out there re: backyard troubleshooting. Just send it back?? I have played with the gain and zeroed out all other electronics and dropped it in deep and shallow water etc.

Do you have the cover over the temp probes on the probe itself ? Have they been damaged in anyway ?

They look good. Tried on and off...

Make sure batteries are good, if boat is out of the water, you can test the probe by wetting your fingers and touch probes, place it under your transducer and if it’s working you should read a readout on the temp and speed. If you have a buddy with one you can try swapping probes or head units to rule out which one is the issue. Like mentioned, contact FH and they’ll have you do some quick tests prior to sending the units in. They are great for customer service.
