I want to try to run my coppers off the big past planner boards, all the reels have braid backer, what is the best release to use on the braid and the big boards?

thanks Scott

Yes, those are the clipper releases. Orange and green. You really can’t go wrong with Scotty releases for copper. They have 2 settings and when set on the heavy position the braid holds long coppers no problem.

Another cheap way is a rubber band attached to the braid with a shower clip.
We always use a rubber band, even with a clip. Double rubber band (half hitched to one another) when its rough.

Scotty planer board releases are probably the most versatile release out there. They work for all lengths of copper and leadcore. https://scotty.com/product/no-1177-planer-board-release/

I like the Scotty releases but add 10 yards of 50# mono between braid and copper for putting in release on all my coppers

Just clip the copper to the release. No need for mono and extra knots.

Agreed. Depending on the length of copper depends on how far in the jaws i place the braid
