There doesn't appear to be any smaelt left in Keuka. They used to run up my little stream by my cabin.

I talked to a guy that did about 70 smelt on thursday. He was dipping on a small stream on the west side of the lake betwwen cargil and salmon creek.

I saw someone Smelting at Keuka lake State Park last night. I don't know how successful they were but the lights stuck around for quite a while.

IMHO, its time to shut down the smelt fishery in the Fingers... Why snatch up the few that are left for breeding stock???.. If we leave them alone for a few years, maybe enough of them will survive the lakers and we can get them back in good numbers..There are too many guys that would happily fry up the few that remain... I say, its time to try and get them back... Shut it down and see if the numbers rebound... bob
