Get one of these and be done with it. You see the buildup of water in the bottom sight glass you open the petcock drain it into a cup and the water and sludge is gone I run these on all my hunting and fishing boats.

Looks like a good concept, but after looking at the online reviews, it seems these these can come apart at the seams, and might not be built the best.
