Installing electric downrigger on pontoon boat. Should I ground it to the boat ?

Do not ground anything to an aluminum boat, there are several videos on YouTube that will explain it better than i can. run power and ground back to the battery with a ciruit breaker at the battery on the positive wire

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ground anything to the hull of an aluminum boat.  (unless you want an awful lot of corrosion real quick!)  Tech has it correct....all grounds run to the battery.  (note ground is the negative post, black wire)
