just purchased a fishhawk x4 ,my question is ,i want to use this right away ,but my boat is in water in slip (thompson 240),so adding a transducer while in the  water would be tough ,any body ever rig the transducer to a piece of wood and lower it down in water to get reading ,just for weekend til i can pull boat out and complete the job ,thanx

Know several fishermen who did just that, attached with a c clamp, and it worked fine till they were able to pull the boat and install properly

Green fish, here’s how I use my portable FF transducers on my rowboats.

I IMG_4080.JPGhave set up my X4D probe like this when I first bought it and in mid season like you and it worked fine. Just a wood worker clamp, a piece of 1/4” x 2” aluminum bar stock and a piece of lex. an Material (Trex works too) as a backer to mount the transducer. I just clamped it onto my transom of my boat and temporarily snaked the cable under the boat gunnel to the display. Worked great for the time being!

Ive been doing this for years for fish finder and hawk. Its on a smaller aluminum boat with a transom that i can use a c clamp tho. Always bring an extra c clamp.
