Rochester NY closer to home pickerel fishing

I’m in Rochester Ny and was wondering if there were any closer to home places for pickerel as the nearest place I know of is hemlock ands that’s a 40 minute drive plus

All the weed beds in Irondequoit bay, Honeoye lake

Closest pickerel fishing is Canadice, Hemlock or Honeoye.  I have fished Ibay for 25 years and never have seen a chain pickerel caught.

Never heard of a pickerel being caught in the bay

I caught 2 going after pike in the north east corner

If you did, it was a fluke. There are a lot of northerns in Ibay though. Many of them are pretty small now though.

Not impossible there have been pickerel identifed in parts of Lake Ontario

Canandaigua Lake has some of the biggest pickeral around - north or south ends

South end would be better presuming they go into the same pre-spawn cycle as pike but Canandaigua is too far especially with gas prices

If i managed to get out there though what areas of either end should i hit specifically
