Because the court systems are busy decriminalizing any jailed persons involving marijuana busts, and to prevent COVID spread in jails, before he left office, Cuomo ordered law enforcement to look the other way on most infractions. You pretty much have to commit murder, rape or kidnapping to see jail time. Expect fishing and hunting violations to get tossed out if someone fights the charge in court. Sad state of affairs right now.

I agree with Gill T. This is a catch n release state now. Imagine being a police officer right now. Bill had so much land locked down with leases. If you had a neighboring property you loved to waterfowl, you were out of luck.

Fishing & hunting violations have routinely been thrown out or slap on the wrist forever. Why? Because violator goes in front of local judge. “Hey, Bill, how ya doin?” says the violator to the judge. Not guilty, next!

You guys are all correct.... Bail reform, Less is more, liberal judges.... It never ends!
There is some major Fishing violations going on in tbe gorge right now. The DEC won't go down there to handle it. Can't say I blame them.the City of Rochester Courts won't keep felons in jail, what do you think will happen when a Snagging ticket goes in front of them?
I went down there recently... Lots of Amish and other folks down there thinking it's 1989...
So with all this in mind, no one should be surprised that Saiff got away with his violations yet again.

Yes, federal, but the point I was making is that f&g violations, fed or state, have been handled this way since time immemorial. Politics got nothing to do with it. Ask your local ECO about local courts, he/she will tell you.

Remember the cormorant Massacre at Galloo Island. That was a federal case those guys got slapped pretty good and they ain't none too happy about staif getting a less of a fine for shooting ducks over bait for money

Maybe they should write a letter to the judge, asking why Bill got such good treatment. It sure makes a mockery of our judicial system.

One thing to remember - this is sentencing from his conviction in June... not another case of being caught.

This is his second time being caught. This time he was caught while being on probation for the first time he was caught.

This disregard for the law and seeing with what you can get away with is probably his general life style . An IRS check up of his taxes may be a good idea.
