Weighted steel is used as an alternative to copper it is more user friendly in some ways especially if you just starting out on junk lines 7 strAnd and 19 strand are more of a braid alternative usually used on dipsey rods

I'm well aware of the various dipsey wires, my question is:  what is the composition of weighted steel that makes it different.

Honestly..... its down rigger cable. In its simplest explanation it is just a heavy weight ss line. Nothing more, nothing less. There is no fancy technology behind it or any mind blowing composition. And although it might be fish similar its about as similar to copper as leadcore is to copper.
