Ice thickness- Canadice

Anyone have any ice reports from Canadice?

Ice fished Canadice sat evening out from the launch for smelt. Ice was about 8" thick. Started in about 80 ft not knowing what to expect. Didnt mark much of anything then moved into 20 ft. Had marks all night. Only landed a perch. Used hali jigs with 1-2 small flies rigged above (size 12-16). Water was stained from the recent runoff and snowmelt. Hoping to try it again. Read past reports of ppl catching quite a few. Had some light taps on the line but never connected. Will have to try tiny spike pieces on small bare hooks next time instead of flies. Hopefully water is clearer next time. Any other suggestions?

   Never done it but from what I have heard. 20 to 30 fow put a lantern shining in the hole. I read you can use a small piece of nylon (panty hose} when they bite it there teeth get caught in it.
