i usually fish a spot in the 1000 islands for the opening of pike in may. this year i am thinking of trying conesus lake. my question is has anyone been to conesus right around the opening of the season, and if so are the pike active in the shallower warmer water like they are up in 1000 islands. in the islands they are very active and will smack spinnerbaits and basically anything.

The north and south ends have the shallowest water. Both are big flats the north end being the bigger. These are good places to start. Also cast around the drop offs around the points.

I agree, both North and South ends and only have to anchor in about 5'-6' of water. Throw out a shiner with a bobber and you will catch Pike. Never done the North end but see them pull them up like crazy from the ice down there. I go to the South because it's a quicker ride for me.
