I bought some the week before the Derby and this past weekend with no issues, but maybe that doesn't help.

Actually it does help I’m tracking the source of a problem and I want to be fair and accurate about it… that’s why I’m asking

Same here, put 50 gallons in the week prior to the derby with no problems.
