I was looking for a recomendation for a port to fish out of in late July for Salmon and steelhead. I have a 18 foot aluminum lund that I trailer from PA so I was thinking maybe Oak Orchard but am open to other locations. I just got into fishing Lake Ontario last year and am new to salmon fishing so any recomendations would be greatly appreciated. Hope everyone is having a good season so far. Thanks in advance.

Consider Sodus. Good eats, a beach and you can fish the bay for bass if too rough to get out of main lake.

The Oak is a good choice but the lake can be inhospitable to any boat at any port you launch from.  Being in a smaller boat, you just have to watch forecast and wind and use common sense.

Sandy Creek in Hamlin.  Absolutely no boat traffic and terrific fishing in late July!

one of the bays for the reasons Gill T states above.  nice to have a back up option if the lake is rough.  if your keeping the boat on the trailer than consider sodus area as your also not terribly far from Cayuga lake

Ditto on Sodus for the previous stated reasons.

I dry dock in Sodus and the bay along with Cayuga Lake have saved many weekends because Ontario was too rough. You’re also able to hit Cayuga and Ontario in the same day!
