i am trying to plan a trip to niagra falls shortly after i get back from iraq (i figure if i keep the wife happy i can get more fishing in ) where would you recomend staying and what are the new passport restrictions? i would appreciate any input.

You need your driver's license and birth cert. until June 9 after that you will need an enhanced DL or passport.

A place to stay depends on your budget. You can't do much better than the Sheridan Falls View, but that will cost you. There are many motels both US and Can that are off the falls that offer good rates. I have not stayed in them for several years. The last several times up I spent the long dollar at the Falls View or stayed in Tonawanda and drove to the falls.

as of today the exchange rate is 1.18 so your dollar is worth a little more on the canadian side, the seneca casino on the american side is very nice and usually reasonable during the week, weekends is pricey but no hassle crossing the border.
